  • Is an ankle brace good for a sprained ankle?

Yes, an ankle brace is a good start. However, certain ankle braces work better than others. I recommend a lace-up figure 8 ankle brace. READ MORE

  • Broken toe?

I would go see your local podiatrist and obtain an x-ray in order to know if it’s broken for sure. You can try buddy tapping as well. READ MORE

  • Can heel pain be treated surgically?

Not always. It’s very hard to assess what is causing your heel pain without more information. I would encourage you to seek out your local podiatrist and get down to the point. Pain does not always equal surgery. READ MORE

  • Ingrown toenail?

Sounds like you may have an ingrown toenail. You can try soaking it in warm water 15 minutes twice a day and applying triple antibiotic to the area to see if that decreases your symptoms. However, if it does not, I would see a podiatrist to have it properly treated. READ MORE

  • Is my foot broken?

Hi there, Depends what you did to cause the swelling. If you twisted your ankle, possible that it’s just a sprain. However, no way to truly tell unless you get an X-ray to confirm a fracture. Please see your local podiatrist for further work up & evaluation. READ MORE

  • What is the treatment for hammer toe?

Hi, There are a lot of treatments for hammertoes, both conservatively & surgically. First, we need to know if the hammertoe is rigid or flexible (i.e., does it bend/straighten out). If it’s flexible, conservative methods could work - metatarsal pads, budin splints, mesh gel tubes, deeper toe box shoes could all help. If rigid or the above treatments don’t help, you may be looking at surgery. In surgery, it can be as simple as nicking the tendon to straighten the toe or removing some bone & then keeping the toe straight with an implant. READ MORE

  • Toe question?

Hi, The picture isn’t allowing me to see a bone popping out. However, if you feel that a bone is starting to pop out of your toe, it would be in your best interest to go to a podiatrist & have an X-ray done to evaluate it. READ MORE

  • Starting of ingrown toenail?

Soaking the toe in warm salt water & dressing with mupirocin ointment can definitely help calm down an ingrown in the early stages. Using cotton wool under the nail to help redirect the nail out of your border can also help. If it does proceed to get worse, I would definitely seek out a podiatrist in your area to evaluate & treat it. READ MORE
