His medical career began in 1981 when he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, Ohio. This was followed by a residency in podiatry at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in 1982.
A Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and a member of the American Podiatric Medical Society, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery which exists to offer podiatric physicians a comprehensive board qualification and certification process.
