Does wearing more rubber bands on braces help?
That is something that should be determined by a qualified dentist. I saw a case a few years back, where 2 young ladies came to my office for the for the first time, with two very loose front teeth. These young ladies placed rubber on their two upper front teeth, to have the gap between the two teeth closed. The damage to the bone holding the teeth was so severe that both young ladies ended up loosing those teeth. Please keep in mind that it takes an average of 4 years of college, then 4-5 years of dental school and then 2-4 years of specialty training or continuing education training for a doctor to be trained in orthodontics "braces" that is average of 12 years of higher education after high school. Please don't do anything that may cause irreparable damage. As doctors we try and correct some imperfections but even the best doctors in the world do not know everything there is to be known, we study and we pray that our minds and hands be guided by our Heavenly Father, our creator. How do I know if my dental implant is healing correctly?
The bone around the implant would show a direct contact to the surrounding bone on an x ray initially, then a thicker bone would form directly around the implant and it would show as a whiter thin band, and it is called cortical bone. An implant integrates to the bone slowly and it becomes very solid, an implant does not have any movement like a natural tooth that can move very slightly almost imperceptibly, kind of like a nail on wood. An implant is more like a screw or rebar in concrete. if an implant moves or wiggles ever so slightly after a restoration has been placed, then that implant is not healing well. Keep in mind that implants rate of success varies and is limited, depending on the quality of the patient's bone, patient's general health, habits and age. READ MORE
Do sealants really prevent cavities?
When applied correctly sealants are a great tool to prevent cavities, they do not guarantee that you will not get cavities but, they reduce considerably the chances of getting cavities. READ MORE
Are black spots on teeth cavities?
If the enamel is soft on the black spots, yes they are cavities. The way we check is by utilizing a very sharp tool, and if that tool sticks instead of running smoothly on that area, then it is decay. Decay comes in many ways and colors from chalky white to yellow, to brown to black, somewhat soft to very soft. Pressing firmly the sharp tip of an explorer and if it sticks, then it is decay. Also there are more modern chemical ways to check for decay, even some light translucency with special light sources, even lasers. The gold standard remains a sharp explorer, if it sticks is decay. Decay is a decalcification process of the tooth structure, usually by acid, were it may be acid from bacteria, foods, chemicals, etc.etc. READ MORE
How do you know if you have an exposed tooth nerve?
There are a few reasons why someone would have an exposed "nerve", but an exposed "nerve" that is still alive would become extremely painful to cold, acidic foods, and pressure. Once a "nerve" becomes infected it will usually become more painful when the tooth is exposed to heat and or pressure, the pain would linger and or throb, mostly at nigh time. An exposed "nerve" that is not treated ASAP is more likely to become infected, and the treatment can become more difficult and expensive. READ MORE
Should I brush a chipped tooth?
Absolutely, as long as you can tolerate it and there is no nerve (pulp chamber) exposure. A chipped tooth means that some of the enamel has fractures leaving thousands of enamel rods unsealed and more likely to attack from acids, including those secreted by bacteria. READ MORE

There are many changes that will happen when wearing dentures for the first time, to many to reasons for the changes also. Some of the most common are, Sores on the gums, change in speech, inability to eat many foods, chewing muscles and TMJ pain, bone loss of the remaining ridges etc.. Yes a diabetic person's immune system is compromised and it will not be as effective against bacteria, therefore gum infections, and tooth loss are not uncommon among diabetics, and other people where their immune system is compromised. READ MORE

The frequency that someone needs to have their teeth cleaned depends greatly on the person brushing and flossing habits, there are other factors like a patient's general health. There are some reasons why teeth may be sensitive and some of these reasons can cause your teeth to need root canals. Often times your teeth can be sensitive due to an inflammation of the pulp(nerve) and the inflamation can be reversible or ireversible. Reversible pulpitis can become irreversible if the cause of irritation is not adressed, so is best to consult with your dentist to determine what is causing your teeth to be sensitive and how to fix that problem. He sees patients of all ages at his private dental practices, Alpine Oak Dental and Ramona Oak Dental, in California.

Both Alpine Oak Dental & Ramona Oak Dental offer a full range of general and cosmetic dental treatments to help patients achieve their perfect smile. With a combination of continuing education and state-of-the-art equipment, Dr. Orozco and his staff are able to offer patients the best preventive care and treatment available in Alpine and Ramona.

Born in Mexico, where he attended dental school, Dr. Orozco moved to Texas in 1980 and drove a taxi to make ends meet. In 1985, armed with his education and determination for a better life, he joined the Army. Though he initially thought he would be able to work as a dentist in the Army, his then lack of citizenship meant the best he could get was an enlisted position as a combat medic, which he dutifully accepted. After he finished his time in the Army, his wife joined the Navy, relocating the couple from Texas to California. It was then that Dr. Orozco completed internships with Loma Linda University and Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

As a contributor to dentistry and medicine, Dr. Orozco serves as an instructor & mentor to his colleagues. To further his professional development, he remains a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Alpine Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Dental Association, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and the Internet Dental Alliance.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Attributing his success to his patients, Dr. Orozco loves what he does. “I’ve always looked at my patients as someone to whom I owe so much, because without them, I wouldn’t be able to feed my family and put a roof over their heads. To me, the best way I can repay the debt I owe to my patients is by always training and always trying to be better than myself — not other dentists — myself, every day.” he stated.

When he is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife, their 4 daughters, and 3 grandchildren. His hobbies include anything artistic, from woodworking and leather crafting to pen making and jewellery design. He also offers free service to missionaries and disabled children by referral.
