Get to know Anesthesiologist Dr. Mario Fernandez-Grela, who serves patients in Ocala, Florida. 

 Anesthesiologist Dr. Fernandez-Grela is currently serving Ocala and the surrounding communities through Leesburg Ocala Heart Institute and is affiliated with the Munroe Regional Medical Center. He is a bilingual physician and can assist patients who speak both English and Spanish. 

Improving health, one life at a time, Leesburg-Ocala Heart Institute is dedicated to healthy heart care, both at home and overseas. They use the skills and talents to give back to the world. Serving all people, they have traveled to remote areas of the world, bringing a level of care that is otherwise unavailable. Working in unison with local hospitals, they teach new techniques, thoracic and heart procedures to local caregivers as well as sponsoring trips for international medical teams to come to their Florida facilities so they can receive even more specialized training. They find that the experience enriches them, filling them with encouragement and hope when they see patients leading happy, productive lives.

In reference to his education, Dr. Fernandez-Grela graduated with his Medical Degree from Universidad Central De Venezuela. After earning his medical degree and relocating to the United States, he completed his residency with the Westchester Medical Center and his fellowship with the The Methodist Hospital and the University Of Texas-Md Anderson Cancer Center. 

Dr. Fernandez-Grela is board certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). The ABA seeks to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, they are committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. 

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery. As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Fernandez-Grela ensures the safety of patients who are about to undergo surgery. He specializes in general anesthesia, which will put the patient to sleep, sedation, which will calm the patient or make him or her unaware of the situation, and regional anesthesia, which numbs a specific part of the body. As an anesthesiologist, he also may help manage pain after an operation. 

During his time in the field, Dr. Fernandez-Grela has helped countless patients.
