Dr. Lane is a renowned comprehensive ophthalmologist, eye surgeon, and fellowship-trained cornea specialist respected for his outstanding personalized eye care for over two decades. He places tremendous value on the trusted, caring relationships he has built over many years.
Providing top notch eye care and eye surgery, he is currently a part of the team of professionals at Long Island Eye Surgeons in Lake Success, New York. His surgical expertise is in femtosecond laser cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses, as well as LASIK and PRK.
Actively involved in teaching resident ophthalmologists, he serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
With a broad educational background, Dr. Lane graduated from Tufts University and received his medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv, Israel. After an internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at Westchester Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident.
Thereafter, he was selected to complete a fellowship in cornea, external disease, and laser refractive surgery at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois.
Dedicated to the highest standard of surgical excellence, Dr. Lane is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
In addition, he is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the New York State Ophthalmological Society.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Lane has presented his research at numerous ophthalmology conferences around the country, and has contributed to a textbook on cornea and anterior segment ocular surgery. He also lectures frequently in the community on topics such as cataracts, glaucoma, and laser surgery.
In 2001, Dr. Lane was a recipient of the American Medical Association Physician’s Recognition Award. He also received the 2003 Teacher of the Year Award from the Department of Ophthalmology at North Shore University Hospital.
