Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Irini E. Veronikis, who serves patients in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Veronikis is a board-certified, fellowship-trained endocrinologist who has been in practice for over three decades. She is currently affiliated with Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Missouri.

Mercy Hospital St. Louis has been a healing presence in the St. Louis region for more than 150 years. Today, the hospital continues to provide compassionate medical and specialty care on its centrally located campus at I-270 and I-64/US 40. As a faith-based organization, Mercy is rooted in its Mission of bringing to life the healing ministry of Jesus through care and service.

A 1987 graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Patras in Greece, Dr. Veronikis relocated to the United States to further her training. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Easton Hospital, followed by her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

Showing dedication and excellence in her field, she is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology (FACE). 

Licensed to practice medicine in Missouri and Pennsylvania, she is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others. 

On a more personal note, Dr. Veronikis is fluent in both English and Greek.
