Dr. Cortijo, a highly trained physiatrist, is licensed to practice medicine in New York and New Jersey. He employs a combination of physical therapy treatments, medication management and a host of procedures including soft tissue, muscle, nerve and spine injections to treat a variety of disorders.
A 1992 graduate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Dr. Cortijo went on to perform his internship at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in 1993. He followed this up with a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1996.
With a focus on a patient’s ability to function, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
