A trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Smith is the Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Insyte Behavioral Solutions, LLC in New York, New York.

Insyte Behavioral Solutions, LLC is a multi-faceted healthcare consulting firm driving operational decision-making processes necessary for the successful attainment of the organization’s mission in addition to maintaining workforce efficiency. It provides clinical coaching to care managers and medical staff, enabling them to extrapolate pertinent clinical information to assess if evidence based medicine is applied to foster quality of care and positive treatment outcomes. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Smith graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from Washington University in St. Louis in 1983. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree in Zoology with concentration in Biochemistry from the University of Memphis in 1986, and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in 1990.

Furthering his training, Dr. Smith performed his residency in psychiatry at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in 1993, followed by his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 1995.

With experience in assessing mental and physical symptoms, the doctor is board-certified in psychiatry by the American Osteopathic Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (AOBNP). The AOBNP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in disorders of the nervous system (neurologists) and to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders (psychiatrists).

Throughout his extensive line of work, Dr. Smith has served as Senior Vice President and Northeast Regional Chief Medical Officer at Beacon Health Options/Anthem, Inc. (October 2018 – March 2020); Vice President and Midwest Chief Medical Officer at Magellan Healthcare Inc. in St. Louis, Missouri (October 2012 – November 2017); Interim Behavioral Health CMO, Medical Director, and Consultant at Molina Healthcare (March 2012 – October 2012); Regional Medical Director of WellPoint/Anthem, Inc. (November 2010 – March 2011); Medical Director of Optum Behavioral Health (March 2007 – November 2010); and as Division Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at CenterPointe Hospital (June 2004 – June 2007). 

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA).
