He then went on to perform his residency in family medicine and his fellowship in sports medicine at the University of California (San Diego) Medical Center in 2004 and 2005, respectively. 

Board-certified in family medicine, with a specialization in sports medicine, Dr. Skoblar is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM).
