Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Athena G. Kaporis, who serves patients in Mount Kisco, New York.

A committed dermatologist, Dr. Kaporis is affiliated with White Plains Hospital Physician Associates, operating out of the office in Mount Kisco, New York. She specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, including laser surgery and tumescent liposuction.

Academically, Dr. Kaporis completed her undergraduate studies and graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She received her medical degree and pursued a medical internship at New York Grossman University School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in dermatology at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn.

Subsequent to her education, the doctor attained board certification in dermatology through the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology. 

Advancing her efforts, Dr. Kaporis is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, and the Women’s Dermatology Society. She has conducted research in immunology and has published several articles in peer-reviewed medical journals regarding dermatologic pathology.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. Dermatology is a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

As a testament of her excellent patient care, Dr. Kaporis has been the recipient of various awards and honors, including Castle Connolly Top Doctors in Dermatology (2018, 2019), Westchester Magazine Top Doctors (2015-2020), Westchester Magazine – Cosmetic (2019, 2021), Exceptional Women in Medicine (2020), and New York Magazine Top Doctors (2021).
