Get to know Neuroradiologist Dr. Eduardo Gonzalez-Toledo, who serves patients in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Dr. Gonzalez-Toledo, an experienced neuroradiologist, is the Director of Forensic Radiology and Research in the Department of Radiology & a Professor of Radiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport (LSUHSC).

There, he also serves as a member of the Stroke and Epilepsy Committees, and Director of 3rd and 4th-year Clerkships. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as the Director of Neuroradiology from 2002 to 2018.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Gonzalez-Toledo earned his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine in 1964 and completed his Doctorate (PhD) degree in Neuroimaging in Psychiatry at the University of Buenos Aires. He then went on to complete his residency in neurosurgery/neuroradiology in Guillermo Rawson County Hospital. Furthermore, he trained in radiology at Hospital Francés in Buenos Aires and completed a visiting fellowship in computed tomography in St. Luke Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.

Professionally, he introduced short life radioisotopes in Argentina in 1971, the first body CT in 1977, the first magnetic resonance unit in 1986, and started telemedicine/teleradiology in 1992. He founded the Residency in Diagnostic Imaging in Argentina in 1978 and directed the Radiology Residency Program at the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires. He also served in the Credentialing, Cancer, Radiation Safety, Promotions and Tenure Committees, and the CME Committee at LSUHSC.

To advance his efforts, the doctor remains a member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Neuroimaging, Sociedad Argentina de Radiología, the International Society of Neuroimaging in Psychiatry, and the International Society of Forensic Radiology.

Neuroradiology is a subspecialty of radiology focusing on the diagnosis and characterization of abnormalities of the central and peripheral nervous system, spine, and head and neck using neuroimaging techniques. Neuroradiologists are doctors who focus on diagnosing conditions of the spine, neck, head, and central nervous system. They use medical equipment, such as computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines, to identify problems.

With years of experience in his field, Dr. Gonzalez-Toledo is author of 2 books, 34 book chapters, and 172 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for Neurological Research and The Neuroradiology Journal, and as a reviewer for Revista Argentina de Radiología, Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Biología y Medicina Nuclear, Neuroradiology, Ochsner Journal, and ad hoc of AJNR.

In his personal life, he lives in Shreveport with his wife, Adriana. They have four children.
