Dr. Geeta Sharma is an obstetrician - gyneclogist practicing in New York, NY. Dr. Sharma specializes in women's health from adolescence to post-menopause with a focus on the female reproductive system. As an obstetrician - gynecologist, or OB-GYN, Dr. Sharma can treat a number of health issues related to the vagina, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes and breasts. Dr. Sharma can also treat women before and during pregnancy, labor, childbirth, the postpartum period and beyond. As a doubly board certified OB-GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist, she is uniquely able to help women before, during and after pregnancy.
A graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Geeta Sharma also completed her residency and fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center – New York Presbyterian Hospital, in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine, respectively. In medical school, she received the George Ladas, M.D. award for Excellence in Gynecology. In 2004, she joined the Columbia Presbyterian faculty practice. Dr. Sharma returned to Weill Cornell as a faculty member in 2006, and practiced there until moving to Carnegie Hill OB/GYN and the voluntary attending staff of Mount Sinai Hospital in 2018.
Board certified in both general OB/GYN and high-risk obstetrics, Dr. Sharma feels privileged to practice across the entire range of obstetrics and office gynecology and to care for women during the different stages and transitions in their lives. Dr. Sharma is an expert in preconception counseling and managing pregnancies of women of advanced maternal age, many of whom have undergone fertility treatments. She enjoys meeting and connecting with patients before starting their pregnancy journey. Dr. Sharma believes in using evidence-based medical practices combined with a personal approach to whole patient wellness.
Dr. Sharma lives in NYC with her husband and daughter. They are strong supporters of children’s education and are involved with the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and Midori & Friends. In addition, Dr. Sharma has worked with human rights efforts for survivors of female genital mutilation.
