A native of Uganda, Dr. Byakika graduated with his medical degree from Makerere University School of Medicine. After relocating to the United States, he completed his internship at Frankford Hospital, and his residency in internal medicine at the Canton Medical Education Foundation/NEOUCOM Program.

Passionate about his profession, he is board-certified in hospital medicine and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.

A proud father, Dr. Byakika enjoys rugby, lawn tennis, table tennis, cooking, and baking.
