Dr. Valovska is an anesthesiologist serving Boston and the surrounding communities. She is affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), the site of pioneering medical breakthroughs that have improved lives around the world. A major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BWH has a legacy of excellence that continues to grow year after year. BWH includes 150 outpatient practices with over 1,200 physicians. 

Her patients have excellent experiences with her, one stating, “Dr. Valovska is a testament to who a doctor should be! She is a brilliant physician who is extremely knowledgeable of many symptoms and related issues of the nervous system. She listens to her patients with compassion and understanding. I would not be as functional as I am without her and her IV Lidocaine infusion program. I have had a recent issue with my stomach. She was the only physician who put on a regiment to aid in relieving my symptoms (not even my gastroenterologist or dietician could relieve my symptoms). Dr. Valovska should be recognized for outstanding dedication to her patients.”

In regards to her education, Dr. Valovska earned her Medical Degree from Sofia Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine in 1990 in Bulgaria. After relocating to the United States, she went on to complete a residency at Boston Medical Center in anesthesiology and a fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. 

Additionally, Dr. Valovska is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. The ABA aims to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. 

Anesthesiology is the medical specialty concerned with the total perioperative care of patients before, during and after surgery. As an anesthesiologist, Dr. Valovska specializes in general anesthesia, which will put the patient to sleep, sedation, which will calm the patient or make him or her unaware of the situation, and regional anesthesia, which numbs a specific part of the body. She also has a clinical interest in back pain, headaches, and pelvic pain. 

With over 29 years of experience in the field, Dr. Valovska has treated thousands of patients at home and abroad. She currently serves as an instructor in Anesthesia and Pain Management at Harvard Medical School. She has also published and co-published many expert articles in renown medical journals.
