Dr. Nelson is a highly regarded, board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon practicing a full scope of oral & maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to wisdom tooth removal to facial injectables. He diagnoses and treats facial pain, facial injuries and TMJ disorders; performs a full range of dental implant and bone grafting procedures; as well as offers facial aesthetic via Botox, Juvederm, and platelet-rich plasma therapy.
Treating all of his patients like family, he is the owner and operator of East End Oral Surgery with offices in East Hampton, Southampton & Hampton Bays, New York. His patients’ well-being is his greatest priority and he strives to provide quality professional care in a comfortable and safe setting. He is also primary on call for O.M.S. Southampton Stony Brook Hospital Emergency Room.
Back in 1984, Dr. Nelson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington D.C. in 1989. He completed his General Practice Residency at the Catholic Medical Center, St Mary’s Hospital in Brooklyn in 1990, after which he served as Hospital House Staff within the Department of Dentistry at the Catholic Medical Center of Queens from July of 1990 until July of 1991.
From July of 1991 until July of 1994, he was a resident in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Jersey City Medical Center. Thereafter, from July of 1994 until July of 1995, he served as Chief Resident and Attending Surgeon within the Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at both New York and New Jersey City Medical Center. Years later, from 1996 until 2007, he was an Associate Attending Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens.
For a period of 15 years, Dr. Nelson served as Chief Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon on staff at DDI Developmental Disability Institute in Riverhead, after which he held the position of Dental Staff President at Southampton Hospital. He has been in private practice since 1995.
