He then completed his fellowships in allergy & immunology and pulmonary medicine at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1983 and 1984, respectively. 

The doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
