What is the reason for the bulge in my wrist?
It can be numerous things such as a lipoma which is s a fatty tumor, a ganglion cyst, or inflamed tendons causing a condition caused by tenosynovitis. A proper hand examination with a possible MRI can confirm the diagnosis. Most of this can easily be drained or excised. READ MORE
Hand pain?
I would recommend that you come in to obtain X-rays of your wrist to make sure there isn't a fracture or ligamentous injury. Some of these can go undiagnosed for years before becoming very problematic. At which point it becomes too late to fix a simple problem. READ MORE
Do you go under general anesthesia for hand nerve surgery?
Depends on the type of surgery. Most can be done with a simple block. More complex surgeries usually involving nerve repairs or deeper dissections usually require general anesthesia. If there is a contraindication to general anesthesia, the Anesthesiologist can usually do Regional Anesthesia. READ MORE

Dr. Ghany is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty certification in surgery of the hand. With more than 20 years of experience at the highest level, he is part of the team at Spine & Orthopedic Center, seeing patients in all four of the offices in Broward and Palm Beach county.

The doctor’s areas of interest include the treatment of hand to elbow disorders including injuries, arthritic conditions, wrist pain and carpal tunnel syndrome. He has performed thousands of endoscopic carpal tunnel releases. Through his training and experience, he is also seasoned in wrist arthroscopy with TFCC repairs.
Furthermore, Dr. Ghany has experience in repairing fractures from the elbows to the fingertips, tendon repairs to the wrist and hand, as well as the distal biceps and triceps at the elbow. He is trained in microsurgical techniques for the repair of nerve injuries, as well as treatment of arthritic conditions, including arthroplasty of the hand, wrist, and elbow.
Among his other roles, he has medical privileges at West Boca Medical Center, Broward Health North, Boca Raton Regional Hospital, and Boca Raton Outpatient Surgery & Laser Center. Prior to coming to Florida, he practiced outside of Columbus, Ohio for 14 years.
A Trinidad and Tobago native, Dr. Ghany initially completed a degree in Civil Engineering at the prestigious The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, a highly selective all-scholarship school. It is thanks to his engineering background and the mentorship of his professor in biomechanical engineering, an orthopedic surgeon, who sparked his interest in the highly competitive field of orthopedic surgery.
He later attended the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Next, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and served as chief resident at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. His passion for detailed and intricate work led him on a path to subspecialize in hand surgery. He completed his fellowship training in hand surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System where he gained the expertise under the tutelage of orthopedic hand surgeons and plastic surgeons.
As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and surgery of the hand by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Ghany is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
