Get to know Internist Dr. Omar A. Gomez, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

With over two decades of experience in his field, Dr. Gomez is a skilled internist with a focus on preventing disease and promoting healthy lifestyles. He is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in the state of Texas, including Rio Grande Regional Hospital, McAllen Medical Center, and Cornerstone Regional Hospital.

A member of the American Medical Association, he is board-certified in internal medicine by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS). The NBPAS is committed to providing board recertification for both MDs and DOs that ensures physician compliance with national standards and promotes lifelong learning.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Gomez obtained his medical degree from Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña in the Domenican Republic in 1993. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at 

Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center in New York City.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Gomez enjoys photography. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
