He continued to practice at USC as the director of pain management from 1987 to 1994 and directed its anesthesiology residency training program from 1992 to 1994. Dr. Valdez was an assistant and associate professor of both anesthesiology and orthopedic surgery at USC as well.
Board certified in both pain medicine and anesthesiology, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
On a professional level, Dr. Valdez is a member of various pain societies, including the Interventional Pain Management (both nationally and in California), the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Medical Association, and the California Medical Association.
