Get to know Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Sunita Kanumury, who serves patients in the State of New Jersey.

In practice since 1993, Dr. Kanumury is a board-certified allergist and immunologist who sees both adults and children for a range of allergy concerns such as asthma, eczema, food & drug allergies, skin allergies, rhinitis, and more. She is the Owner of Asthma & Allergy Care, P.C. with offices throughout the State of New Jersey, including Denville, Budlake, Newark, and Union.

Through quality care, attention to detail, and prompt service, Dr. Kanumury has built a solid reputation of customer satisfaction. Her goal is to continue to provide individualized care to every patient and to be an ongoing educational resource for the surrounding medical community.

Additionally, she is affiliated with several hospitals and medical centers in the area, including Morristown Medical Center, St. Barnabas Hospital, St. Clare’s Hospital, and Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. 

Pertaining to her educational background, Dr. Kanumury earned her medical degree from Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Sambalpur, India. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her internship at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in New York, followed by her residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo. From there, she completed her fellowship in allergy immunology & infectious diseases at the University of Medicine & Dentistry in New Jersey.

Outlining her vision, she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and holds board certifications through the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She is a past President of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin and the American Association of Allergists & Immunologists of Indian Origin. 

The doctor has served on the Board of Trustees of the Association of American Indian Physicians and in the Latex, Drug and Anaphylaxis, and Asthma Committees with the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology & the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. She has also been on the Board of Utilization Management and Quality Management Committee of University Health Plans for 3 years.

Allergy and immunology involves the management of disorders related to the immune system. These conditions range from the very common to the very rare, spanning all ages and encompassing various organ systems. An allergist and immunologist is a physician trained to diagnose, treat, and manage allergies, asthma, and immunologic disorders, including immune deficiencies.

Recognized for her services by the Asian Indian Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Kanumury was listed as one of America’s Top Physicians of Allergy and Immunology by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
