Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Sue S. Chang, who serves the New Haven, Connecticut area at Metabolism Associates. Dr. Chang completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science in cellular and molecular biology and chemistry in 1986. Wanting to further her education she then completed her Medical Degree from Michigan State University in 1990, giving her over two decades of experience in her field. Following Medical School, she completed her Primary Care Internal Medicine at Yale followed by her Nephrology Fellowship with Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Chang is certified in nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and to stay up to date in her field she remains a professional member of the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Chang currently practices with Metabolism Associates, and is affiliated with Yale New Haven Hospital. She holds an expertise in nephrology, end stage renal disease related services, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis. Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy (dialysis and kidney transplantation). Nephrology also studies systemic conditions that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and autoimmune disease; and systemic diseases that occur as a result of kidney disease, such as renal osteodystrophy and hypertension.
