Living with a chronic illness like RA trickles into all aspects of life. How do you manage the relationships in your life?

I don’t manage relationships very well. I tend to rely more on my family who better understand the impact it has on me rather than have friends who simply don’t understand.

When meeting new people, do you share with them that you have rheumatoid arthritis?

Sometimes, because they don’t know that I have RA just by looking at me. I don’t go on about it because I think it’s unfair to expect people to completely understand.

Do you struggle with getting close to others?

Yes. I feel isolated because I see people living while I’m just existing.
