Get to know Dentist Dr. Barbara Ellen Baxter, who serves patients in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Baxter is a highly skilled dentist and a certified Invisalign provider serving patients from all over the Washington, D.C. area and surrounding communities at her private practice. With well over three decades of professional experience, she specializes in many facets of general and restorative dentistry, helping her patients achieve flawless smiles.

Established in 1962, the private practice of Dr. Baxter has been family owned and operated since the beginning of time, which has helped shape the calming atmosphere for their patients. Commonly performed services within the practice include cleanings, dental implants, regular check-ups, dental hygiene, fluoride treatment, dental veneers, cavities and fillings, and more. Dr. Baxter does it all supported by patient-friendly and highly qualified staff. Her office is known for providing attentive, comprehensive care that includes routine services, as well as custom solutions to specific dental issues. 

A passionate and dedicated dentist, she emphasizes the importance of preventive care to her patients, which can save them time and hassle in the long run. The results of her patients are important to her but their comfort is a priority as well. She explains the process and benefits of any procedure, which greatly contributes to extraordinary relationships that she is able to build with her patients.

Back in 1987, Dr. Baxter earned her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Even after this education however, as a practicing professional, she remains committed to continuing education and learning about the latest trends in modern dentistry.

Having said that, in order to stay active in the dental field, she remains a member of the American Dental Association and the Greater Washington Academy of Women Dentists. Named Women of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women, she attributes her success to the persistent challenge to keep the growing importance of patient care.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Baxter enjoys traveling, cooking, and gardening. Her favorite professional publications are Dental Economics and Dentaltown.
