A septoplasty can be part of fixing a broken nose, however, typically the goal of the surgery is to re-set the fractured nasal bones.

To Whom it May Concern- In answer to your question. I broke my nose. Does septoplasty fix a broken nose? Every broken nose is different. Think of the nose as a upside down cone shape. The septum is the middle to hold it up. Usually, with a broken nose, the septum (bone and cartilage) is crooked (off-center), causing obstruction and decreased airflow. A septoplasty does correct the septal deviation. However, usually the nasal bone positions need to be evaluated and treated accordingly. In summary, the broken Nose is fixed by repositioning the right and left nasal bone and the septum. Cosmetic reconstruction can also be performed at the same time as the functional repair. Surgery is performed under general anesthesia given by a board certified nurse anesthetist. Sincerely, Stephen M. Krant, M.D., F.A.C.S.
It depends on the severity of the break! Septoplasty along with turbinate procedures will address the breathing issues associated with a nasal fracture. However, if your nose is severely fractured and the outer nasal bird are involved you will most probably need a Septorhinoplasty procedure and possible turbinate correction. Dr. Walker
Does septoplasty fix a broken nose? If depends. A broken nose may be crooked or may have internal obstruction from a broken or crooked septum. The crooked nose may require resetting the broken nose bones in addition to fixing the septum. You are welcome to come in for a consultation: 7104-542-8686
