Maintaining excellent oral hygiene is crucial for the success of orthodontic treatment. Ideally, braces should be cleaned after every meal through brushing and flossing. Additionally, it's recommended to schedule professional cleanings with your hygienist approximately 3-4 times a year during treatment. However, personalized recommendations will be provided by your orthodontist based on your specific needs and treatment progress.
You should being brushing your teeth for 2 minutes two times a day and using a proxy brush or waterpik to clean in between. And see your dentist for a cleaning and they can tell you how frequently you should see them. Some people go for professional cleanings more frequently while in braces. Also rinsing with a fluoride rinse will halp prevent cavities and white spots from forming
Did you metal or plastic aligners?
Metal, then I would suggest getting an electric brush and water pik. And floss threaders for flossing.
Plastic, then take them out use a brush to clean them and soak them in some cleaning solution and rinse and put them back in if you have to wear them 24/7.
I can go into more details, just email back.
At least twice a day. But your brushing and flossing has to be effective. Otherwise, you’ll get white and brown spots around the brackets. That’s decay and not pretty at all. That’s another reason Invisalign today is superior.
Braces should be clean after every meal. Minimum 3 times day.
Every time you eat you should clean them and at least twice a day you should spend 5-10 minutes brushing and flossing your teeth and braces to make sure nothing is missed. Most patients are able to maintain a clean odor free mouth during orthodontic treatment with braces. Having a water pick and using it on a high setting everyday is a great complement to your cleaning routine.
Hello!
Brush your braces after every meal. A meal can be a full meal, a snack, or a drink that has sugar in it. Thank you!
