IUD placement?

I was checking my IUD string and felt it, I could pinch the string between my thumb and pointer finger, is that normal? Also my string felt shallow.

Different clinicians may cut the strings at slightly different lengths. Your ability to feel the string confirms that the device is still in place, but usually doesn't determine its exact position. If it seems that the strings have gotten longer, it may mean a shift in position. If you are worried, you should check with your care provider.
To feel the string is normal
Yes.

It is normal to be able to feel the string. Sometimes it can slip down some after initial placement. I usually have my patients come back for a recheck in 4-6 weeks to confirm proper placement. Sometimes the string is trimmed long. Should be about 2 cm outside the cervix.
