When is peeing blood an emergency?

I have blood in my urine. When is peeing blood an emergency?

1 Answer

Blood in the urine is something to be investigated. Often times there is microscopic blood that patient's don't even realize or see. Blood is a sign of infection, or injury from (urologic stone), and to a lesser extent cancer. If you are seeing blood it is more likely from infection or stone. A female may also see blood during menstration. What would make blood in the urine an emergency is if you have pain in abdomen or flank or if you have a fever. Great Question!
