Is there any way acupuncture can help treat asthma?

Ever since I delivered my baby, I have been suffering from asthma. I do take medication for it but I am also looking into other therapies that could help. Can acupuncture help me?

Yes, acupuncture can help with asthma. By inserting very fine needles into precise points of the body, blood is able to flow to inflamed airways and remove inflation to allow air to flow freely.
Absolutely. It all depends on the underlining cause.
Acupuncture helps with asthma.
Hello,

Acupuncture absolutely helps with asthma. Either acute or long-term. We will usually look into some digestive issues as well and they are usually related. They have an internal-external relationship according to Chinese medicine.
Acupuncture can help with asthma well. It helps the symptoms as well as helping with the roots of the problem. We often give asthma patients dietary advice to follow, too.

Acupuncture has a good track record in treating respiratory issues, including asthma. Part of the power of this therapy is treating the person not just the disease. This allows the acupuncturist to treat both symptoms and the root of the issue to bring lasting relief. I would recommend you give it a try.

Hello,
Acupuncture can assist in balancing and correcting the flow of energy (Qi) in the body, and removing blockages from the lung meridian, which in turn, may help you breathe better.
Yes.
Yes. After women have babies, it depletes the energy, In Chinese medicine, this is called the "Kidney" energy. Kidney energy is what is used to make and deliver a baby and takes some time to replenish after birth. Kidney energy works together with the lungs to take a full breath. The lungs bring in the air and the Kidneys bring it deeper into the body. A skilled acupuncturist will be able to help replenish the Kidney energy and strengthen the lungs and immune system which should help with the asthma symptoms.

Absolutely! Acupuncture can be very effective for asthma, and there are many wonderful Chinese formulas that can be used in conjunction to acupuncture if need be. Chinese formulas are made entirely from plants so they are natural and don't harm your liver. Most of my asthma patients are now off their pharmaceuticals and taking either homeopathics or Chinese herbal formulas for breakthrough asthma.
Of course, I have been treating Asthma with Acupuncture for 25 years with great success. Acupuncture can help reduce the number of inhalers, and many times to also get rid of them all together.
Good afternoon,

Acupuncture can help people with asthma by relaxing the smooth muscles in the air pathway and reducing allergic sensitivity.

There is no need to place needles on the chest or the throat area.

Fine needles are placed on the extremities, i.e. arm, leg, ear, scalp, etc., to stimulate the nervous system and the brain to regulate muscle tone and the autonomous nervous system.

Please feel free to contact our clinic if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Hello. Thank you for your question and congratulations on your new baby! Yes, Acupuncture can help with asthma by both opening up the air passages and by strengthening your immune system. Acupuncture can also prolong periods of attacks so that they become less frequent. Asthma is also viewed as grief, in Chinese Medicine, and this would be something I would like to explore as well.
Acupuncture can be helpful as an adjunct therapy, but not as a stand alone treatment.

Certain styles of acupuncture can be very helpful for asthma. I work in what is called a halotherapy spa, where people come for respiratory issues. In my experience, Tung style acupuncture gives rapid help for asthma, even an acute asthma attack. Herbal medicine is also helpful, and can be taken in conjunction with a conventional drug for asthma.
Yes,Acupuncture can help respiratory system and immune system by balance energy flow and micro circulation.
I cannot say this is a common pattern we see, but I believe I understand what may have occurred within your body after giving birth and I do believe it can be helped with acupuncture. It would be more informative to be evaluated in person by an acupuncturist.
Absolutely. We understand asthma differently than western medicine so we can totally support your healing postpartum.
I have treated many patients for asthma and other respiratory issues. Just last week a patient came in because their meds weren't doing anything and the western medical doctors had no answers for them. They were clearly breathing by the end of my session and more so by the time they got home.

I think it is important to keep your inhalers for emergencies and have your medication on hand too, but acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicines can help greatly reduce your daily needs for them.
