Unfortunately, there is no scientific evidence that certain days of the menstrual cycle are most conducive to conceive a child of a certain gender. The gender of the baby is formed based on genetic make up of the sperm( X or Y chromosome) not the female ovum. I would however encourage you to take your prenatal vitamins, maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet to promote a healthy pregnancy, in general. Good luck with your pregnancy attempts !

Periods can be painful from several reasons and depending on the degree of pain can be debilitating !.Certain physiologic conditions such as your individual response to a hormone class called prostaglandins, could cause pain. Taking medications under the guidance of a physician can mitigate some of this. Then there are medical conditions such as endometriosis or adenomyosis from the abnormal growth of endometrial tissue ( uterine lining) that can cause pain as well. Not all spotting is necessarily dangerous especially in the first few weeks of pregnancy, but some can be a sign of threatened miscarriage or a pregnancy implanted outside the normal portion of the uterus( an ectopic pregnancy) in the first trimester or other complications later in pregnancy . 2. There may a hormonal condition that is making your periods irregular. This could be perimenopause, PCOS, a thyroid condition, a pituitary gland condition , etc. Again, seeing your doctor to evaluate this further can shed some light on this and begin a treatment plan. This is important because irregular periods over many years, can increase the risk of cancer in the endometrium( the uterine lining)
