Tinnitus, which many people describe as ringing or whirring in their ears, is a very common condition. I am not able to say exactly what is causing your tinnitus without a formal evaluation. Even with an evaluation, we often are not able to determine what is *causing* the tinnitus, but rather focus on how to manage the tinnitus. If you are interested in getting more information about your hearing and tinnitus, I would recommend a hearing test, and from there we can determine if a formal tinnitus evaluation is necessary. If you are looking for some general information about tinnitus, I would recommend the American Tinnitus Association (www.ata.org) as a fantastic resource.
