A small, springy instrument called a lid speculum is used to keep your lids from blinking or closing. It doesn't hurt; you will feel pressure on your lids, but not pain. During the procedure, you will be asked to focus on a light above you, but small movements are normal, and will be automatically and rapidly tracked by the laser itself. Don't worry or stress yourself out - the procedure will be very fast and will not hurt. LASIK is absolutely a great option for those with astigmatism. Your surgeon will review your eye maps and the exam findings and if your astigmatism is a regular astigmatism and your eyes are healthy, you will do great with a laser treatment. Frequently, laser vision correction will make your vision even better than glasses or contact lenses, since the correction is placed directly onto your eyes, so eye movement will not have any effect on your vision, as it can with glasses and contacts. You will really enjoy your vision without astigmatism, so definitely move forward and get the procedure - you will be really happy.

Yes, excessive use of computer screens can cause dry eyes. Even though you don't consciously perceive it, the computer screens are flashing on and off at a very high rate. It is believed that your brain misinterprets this flash to assume your eyes blinked. Blinking is how we move tears over the eyes and keep the surface moisturized. As a consequence, your natural blinking rate is diminished, allowing your eyes to dry out.

It may be something simple, related to dry eyes or something else like eye rubbing. However, it also may be a sign of a weakness of the corneal tissue - a problem called keratoconus. Hopefully, it's not anything serious, however, you should see an ophthalmologist soon, to assess what is happening and get the appropriate treatment, so your vision stabilizes.

The vision may be different in your right eye due to astigmatism, or another reason. Astigmatism just means that one axis of your cornea has a different curvature than the opposite axis. That means, essentially, the eye is slightly football shaped, rather than basketball shaped. There can be many reasons you have astigmatism; it can be normal for you, or it can be part of a more complicated issue. You will need an eye exam to determine what's happening. Astigmatism can be easily corrected with LASIK, PRK or other procedures in most cases. However, you will need an exam to determine if that is a good option for you.
