James G. Krueger, MD, PhD is an Established Dermatologist and Head of the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology at the Rockefeller University in New York, NY.

Dr. James G. Krueger is a board-certified dermatologist who treats patients at the Rockefeller University, located in New York City, where he also serves as the Head of the Laboratory for Investigative Dermatology. Additionally, he is co-director for the Center for Clinical and Translational Science at The Rockefeller University Hospital, and Chief Executive Officer of the hospital for well over a decade. Dr. Krueger is well-versed in all facets of dermatology, but he has a special interest in psoriasis. He uses the condition as a model to study other inflammatory diseases, such as inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis, that involve a specific set of T cells called Th17. He focuses on autoimmune mechanisms and cutaneous inflammation in human skin. Dr. Krueger’s extensive work has formed the scientific basis for the highly successful treatment of psoriasis with a range of biologic immune drugs that target the “Type 17” inflammatory immune axis.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Princeton University in 1979, Dr. James Krueger attended The Rockefeller University, from where he graduated with his PhD in 1984. He then went on to enroll at Cornell University Medical College, completing his medical degree in 1985. He remained at the same educational venue through his residency in internal medicine and subsequent residency in dermatology, completing his training in 1990. Throughout his prestigious career, Dr. Krueger has been recognized with many awards and accolades, including the Distinguished Achievement Award and the Psoriasis Research Achievement Award, both from the American Skin Association in 2001, the E.H. Ahrens Jr. Award from the Association for Patient-Oriented Research in 2006, the Astellas Award from the American Academy of Dermatology and the Farber Award from the Society of Investigative Dermatology in 2010, and the Van Scott Award for Innovative Therapy of the Skin in 2015.
