First, I would like to mention I am a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), which involves herbs, but not necessarily essential oils. I have learned treatments with essential oils for TCM, but I do not claim to be an expert in this field and to my understanding France is one of the few places that accept this as a professional therapy.

It is very dependent on the essential oil. Some oils are fine to take a few drops like peppermint and orange oils in cooking. Others are chemically manufactured usually like winter green and should definitely not be ingested at all. There isn’t too much research into ingesting oils and it’s a risk if you’re unsure which are edible, so I would avoid that and keep the use of essential oils more as a topical or as aromatherapy, scent/smelling. The possibility of poisoning is too high. Even topically, it is suggested to use a carrier oil like caster oil. Taking it internally is too much risk. Please check with your primary and/or consult with a professional aromatherapist/herbalist.

Yes, pressure points works just like massage and trigger points. By depressing and massaging the acupuncture points alpha-adenosine is released at the muscle sites, which will calm inflammation and de-stress the muscles relieving tension. Acupuncture meridians have also been found to correlate with inflammation pathways of the organs they correspond to, so pressure points would help those organs as well.

Acupuncture efficiency depends on the nature of the condition as well as the response the individual has to the Qi stimulation. Chronic conditions require more grouped together sessions to have a stronger affect whereas something like a stroke would be best treated immediately from the onset of attack. Also, individuals will vary in response to Qi stimulation like the
instance of acupuncture treatment or it may be delayed one week later. Usually, the first treatment is the strongest response felt and generally takes about 3-5 for a big difference noticed in acute cases or 7-10 for chronic conditions.

Acupuncture can treat dermatitis. Acupuncture itself stimulates beta-endorphins to help ease the pain/itching and tells the body to heal itself. Alpha-adenosine is also released locally to calm the sites of irritation where the needles are placed. Use of moxibustion would further relieve dermatitis as mugswort, the herb being burned, has a very soothing, calming effect. There are even herbal supplements to help with the skin depending on the condition. Make sure to check with your primary if any of these would be a good possibility for you.

The prognosis and diagnosis often rely on how you are presenting your symptoms and your body's reaction to the treatment. You should ask your practitioner if doing 2 sessions a week would help improve faster, seeing as the practitioner can more accurately tell by checking your tongue & pulse. But generally speaking, chronic conditions do often require more frequent treatments grouped together to offer an improved efficacy. Your condition sounds like a synergistic effect of acupuncture combined with herbal supplements would have the best outcome. Ask your practitioner what they think of using Tian Ma Gou Teng formula to help with your condition. Make sure to check with both your practitioner and primary if there are any prescription medicine complications with either acupuncture treatment or herbal supplementation.

It’s difficult to figure out considering I don’t know the practitioner’s protocol. But it sounds like your yin energy (Qi) may not be so contained - yin will hold the yang (day) qi in at night. Also, your gallbladder/liver Qi may need to be addressed, especially if you wake around 12-4am. A combination of acupuncture & herbal supplements may be the best approach. Everyone experiences acupuncture differently, so it may take around 5-8 visits before your treatments are very noticeable. Please contact your practitioner and let him know the goals you aim to achieve with the treatments.

I’m very sorry to hear. Acupuncture has been proven with research to ease pain and anxiety. In surgery centers they sometimes use acupuncture as the anesthesia by manipulating the needles to ‘drain the energy.’ This may be the type of alternative medicine you may be seeking for your wife. There are also herbal supplements to address the spasming/contraction pains. But a practitioner should correctly diagnosis according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and suggest the correct treatment.
Best of luck!
