I like to advise the patients to seek for help when one experiences chest pain or symptoms from stroke ASAP or STAT. If you do not seek for help on timely fashion, it is too late. Treatments are available before the damage is done.
For an example, if one goes to ER, with chest pain that lasts for more than 30 mins, putting a stent in the blocked artery will save the heart muscle from the damage. Once the damage is done, one will go through the consequences later in life. Sometimes that is the end of life (cardiac arrest). I recommend the patients to call 911 for transportation if not stable.
If one experiences weakness of one half on the body, loss of vision, facial droop or unable to speak etc, do not waste time. Call 911 & go to the nearest hospital where the workup will start to administer the clot and work to stop a major stroke. It should be given within 3hrs from the onset.
