Dr. Michael Sutker is the Medical Director of Robotic Surgery and the Chair of the Advanced Clinical Advisory Board at Medical City Dallas Hospital, where he’s been practicing since 2014. There, he is also a member of the General Surgery Performance Improvement and Intensive Care Unit committees.

Dr. Sutker specializes in minimally invasive, laparoscopic approaches to general surgery (including both standard laparoscopy and robot-assisted laparoscopy). Among his many skills are minimally invasive abdominal wall defect repair, including umbilical, inguinal, ventral, and incisional hernias. He is interested in treating acid reflux, obesity, esophageal motility disorders, and paraesophageal hernias using robotically-assisted surgical procedures. Dr. Sutker is also experienced in such emergency surgical situations as appendicitis, gallbladder disease, and diverticulitis.

In January of 2018, Dr. Sutker was initiated into the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the following: American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).

Many surgeries, such as bariatric procedures, are made easier and more successful for both the patient and surgeon when laparoscopic approaches are utilized. No matter which procedure he’s performing, Dr. Sutker aims to provide each of his patients with the most comfortable experience possible.
