Styes and chalazia are tender, but painful red bumps in or along the edge of an eyelid. These are not serious but may be very painful and irritating. Most of these bumps resolve without specific treatments.

- Chalazion is a large, but painless, bump in the eyelid
Both the conditions may be related to blepharitis, a condition that results in inflammation of the eyelids.
