LindaneĀ is used to treat head lice (infestations of Pediculosishumaniscapitis), crab lice (infestations of Pthirus pubis), and to eliminate their ova/ eggs. This product is available as Shampoo, Suspension containing lindane 10 milligrams in 1 milliliter.

This medication should be used as shampoo. Wet hair, apply then massage to hair then rinse.

Your dosage is based on your medical condition and the way you will respond to treatment. Take this drug regularly to experience the most benefits.

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. Continue to use it as prescribed by your doctor or as stated on the package label.

Interactions:

Lindane Shampoo, Suspension may interact with medications such as:

  • Hair cream/ointment/oil
  • Certain antibiotics such as:
    • Penicillins
    • Imipenem
    • or Quinolones such as:
      • Ciprofloxacin
  • Antidepressants such as:
  • Drugs that suppress the immune system such as:
    • Cyclosporine
    • Mycophenolate
    • or Tacrolimus
  • Isoniazid (INH)
  • Antimalarialssuch as:
    • Chloroquine
    • or Pyrimethamine
  • Meperidine
  • Methocarbamol
  • Phenothiazines such as:
    • Thioridazine
  • Sedatives such as:
    • Zolpidem
    • Temazepam
    • or Lorazepam
  • Theophylline

Side Effects:

There are no side effects known aside from a possible allergic reaction in people who have previous or unknown hypersensitivity to the drug.

Watch out for signs of allergic reactions such as:

  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Swelling

Warnings:

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have the following:

  • Allergy to lindane
  • Poorly controlled seizure disorder
  • Other skin conditions such as:
  • HIV infection
  • History of serious head injury
  • History of seizures
  • Brain tumors
  • Severe liver disease
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Sudden stopping of regular alcohol or sedative use
  • Pregnancy or lactation
