It depends where its injected.
like for the skin and mouth or nasal procedures spray can be used to numb the area before a needle with lidocaine is injected .there is a slight discomfort as the lidocaine is injected and the it gets numb and its wonderful to have surgical procedures done that way.
No more painful than your usual blood draws
Lidocaine, can cause pain (brief burning pain/sting) for approximately 15 seconds until the numbing effect begins. It is possible that this pain is caused because lidocaine is acidic and burns during its injection.

Some physicians believe that reducing the acidity of lidocaine by mixing it with sodium bicarbonate will reduce the initial pain of injecting the lidocaine. Both approaches - injecting 1% lidocaine alone and injecting 1% lidocaine mixed with sodium bicarbonate - are used as routine standards of care today.

Based on existing studies on the matter, buffering and warming of the lidocaine solution before injection are probably the simplest and most effective measures to reducing the already minor pain that comes with lidocaine injections.
You will feel discomfort.
