What would cause blood to be on the bowels?

There are many reasons. Most common benign reasons are hemorrhoids and anal fissure. Less common would include polyps, cancer. Hopefully you have already had a colonoscopy in the past, but if it was not done recently, then a repeat exam may be indicated.
