Bowel problem?

My grandson is autistic he weighed only 1.11ozs at birth. The mother's water broke at 20 weeks and gave birth at 26 weeks. My grandson is 10 now and occasionally he will go for several days with no bowel movement but when he goes it is a lot, to say the least. He started getting a little sick and my wife say the doctor said maybe flu. He wasn’t given any meds to take. He takes a couple of meds, risperdone 0.25 mgs and he takes clonidine 0.1 a half in the morning and a quarter at midday. He takes melatonin 4-6 mgs at night. But he has had several accidents where it looks like diarrhea. But it’s just a small amount. We have had him on extra fiber gummies around 20mgs a day for a year or longer. He doesn’t complain and he doesn’t know how to tell us. No bowel movement this week except a couple of times we had to change him. He lived the first 6 months at TC Thompson’s in Tennessee. He rocks a lot. He’s been out of school now for nearly 2 weeks. We have given him a little mineral oil and a small amount of Miralax. No help! He’s not eating much he drinks a good amount per day. He has gas really bad. Can anyone tell us something to help him? He is sleeping more for some reason. I know one of his meds causes him to maybe sleep. He is normally wide open but now not so much. He was on a feeding tube for nearly 6 months.

Hello, I am sorry to learn about all the problems with your grandson. Has he been checked by a pediatric gastroenterologist specialist? If so, have you tried glycerin suppositories or pediatric fleet enema? Best wishes.
