Usually in the 2nd trimester is recommended to have an elective surgery, other times only if it’s an emergency surgery
Maybe. There are a few things that you should know. Many of the anesthesia medications are not safe for you & your baby, and should be avoided. Also, you are at an increased risk of having bad outcomes during pregnancy, including miscarriage and aspiration. Elective surgeries are typically advised to be postponed until after the delivery.
Absolutely. I would avoid, however, doing it during the first trimester of pregnancy, as that is the period of organogenesis for the baby, so you want to avoid interaction with any drugs.
While general anesthesia should be avoided for elective surgeries during pregnancy, for urgent or emergent cases, yes you can be put to sleep for surgery, preferably in the second trimester. The first trimester is when organs are developing and the third trimester carries a higher risk of preterm labor.
Yes, you can receive a general anesthetic while pregnant. There are some special considerations for a pregnant woman and your anesthesiologist can discuss those with you.
Yes, you can safely undergo General Anesthesia while pregnant. However, there are several special considerations that would need to be investigated, in order to minimize risks to both you and your baby.
