Yes. Most liver biopsies are done in a procedure room with local only.
It is best asked of the person, and or the team, that will be doing the biopsy.
The question is, ? Liver Biopsy without Anesthesia? At minimum the patient having a liver biopsy "without " Anesthesia will probably benefit from sterile technique, appropriate positioning and some sedation and local anesthesia. Where in the liver will the be from? Superficially? Close to the portal triad (deep)? Left side, right side, back? How skilled is the person taking the Biopsy? Ask. How 'tough' is the patient being biopsies? Necessary preprocedure inquiries.
local anesthesia is given. The procedure is safe and fast.
Yea they can use a local anesthetic. Often they will give some relaxation medicine like a benzodiazepine so you aren’t wiggling around in the scanner.
