Can antibiotics fix bronchitis?

I have bronchitis. Can antibiotics fix bronchitis?

1 Answer

Antibiotics for bronchitis will only help if the cause is bacterial. If the cause is a virus then antibiotics will not help. Usually, with a bacterial infection you have a fever and it lingers longer so I suggest letting it run its course and if you get a fever and become more ill, see a physician and an antibiotic may be in order. Also if you are coughing up dark yellow or green sputum it may be tested by sending for culture and sensitivity which would identify the culprit and the treatment.
