Family Practitioner Questions Antihistamines

Can cetrizine help in reducing fever?

I took cetrizine for a cold that I believe resulted from an allergy, but now it resulted in a fever. Is it alright or will it cause any reactions in the future?

Cetrizine is used for allergy and itching and running nose. It is not used for fever, the fever may be just coincidental.
Ceterizine (cetirizine) is not a medication that helps fever, but helps allergies. It does not cause fever either. The situation you described might have been an infection which went untreated and progressed to you having a fever (which the ceterizine did not help). I hope you did see your Dr. for this cold you have had.
Cetrizine is strictly an antihistamine. In the dimilar category of Allegra, Benadryl. It’s brand name is Zyrtec.
If you were already feeling bad or like you had a “cold” it is more likely that the fever was a result of the illness.
Of course I can not answer this definitely in this type of forum so also check with your personal family doctor.
