Can chiropractic help with food allergies?

I have a food allergy. I want to treat it. Can chiropractic help with food allergies?

Hello and good morning, The answer to this question is difficult because food allergies are usually hypersensitivities or immune reactions within the linings of the digestive tract. Now what chiropractors can aide with is the improvement of nerve function and nerve flow to those areas of the digestive tract (through spinal adjustments). Chiropractic care can absolutely help with food allergies, but this doesn't mean it always works. Lifestyle, proper nutritional counseling, along with mental and emotional stress release can all help play a role in having food allergies. Hope this answers your question and have a phenomenal day! Sincerely, Christopher Wydler D.C.
Allergies often respond to specific upper cervical chiropractic. Obviously, you want to avoid "poking the bear", so avoiding foods that have triggered symptoms in the past is worthwhile. Once your upper cervical doctor has you holding your adjustment for a month or more, you can attempt to reintroduce SMALL amounts of the previously triggering foods. Keep moving and sit as little as possible while healing. You can look on upcspine.com for a listing of upper cervical chiropractors around the world.
Yes! This will take some googling though. There are a lot of chiropractors who perform food allergy testing and focus on nutrition that is all personalized. I would look for chiropractors associated with Wellness Way or any chiropractor that performs what is called a Dutch Test. Thank you for your time!
Yes BUT only if the allergy is caused by a neurological issue. Sometimes food allergies are not really allergies. The digestive system is not controlled properly by the neurological system. Other times the immune system does not recognize or cant handle a particular ingredient. Hope this helps. Jay H Schwartz, DC, DIBCN, DIBE
I don't think there is any evidence to support that chiropractic adjustments help food allergies. However, there are some chiropractors that do different allergy elimination techniques having nothing really to do with chiropractic that have been known to help. Spinal adjustments are unlikely to help with food allergies. There are many anecdotes of chiropractic care helping improve organic symptoms like constipation, bed wetting and allergies, but it has not been validated by studies. In most states chiropractors are able to advise on diet and nutrition which could have more of an impact.
