Can gums get swollen after a root canal?

After root canal treatment my gums are swollen. Can gums get swollen after a root canal?

Hi, Yes they can. Rinse with warm salt water and take any appropriate pain medication that you can (ibuprofen is best - if you can take that). Follow up with your treating provider if symptoms don't resolve in two weeks.
Gum swelling is not typical after root canal therapy. The ring that holds the isolation dam can irritate the gum. If the swelling extends beyond the immediate gum of the treated tooth, call the dentist!
