My baby has hearing damage after an ear infection. Can infant ear infections cause hearing damage?

Yes they can. While the loss is usually related to the fluid in the ear with infections, on occasion it can affect the hearing organ in the ear called the cochlea. This should be seen and have appropriate testing, called an ABR if you child is very young.
