Can wearing reading glasses hurt your eyes?

I wear reading glasses almost every day. Are they safe? Can wearing reading glasses hurt your eyes?

If you could see and not uncomfortable with either eye then you are ok, however they are only for those who have both eyes the same and no astigmatism. If any in doubt you should have eye exam in the clinic instead
No it does not. However, accommodation for near can be weakened if you are wearing a pair of contact lenses that overcorrect myopia. That overcorrection would effectively make you hyperopic. Then, wearing reading glasses over the contacts to see at near would in effect weaken your own ability to see at near. Steven Vale, M. D.
