Do you need medications for a gum infection?

I have a gum infection. Do you need medications for a gum infection?

It depends on the severity of the gum infection. As systemic antibiotics and mouthwash antibiotics can be used in additional, its does not clear a gum infection alone. A deep scaling and root planing is the first thing that must be done for periodontal disease. If the gum infection is just gingivitis, then I recommend a cleaning with laser treatment and mouthwash antibiotics with excellent home care. If the gum infection is severe, sometimes surgical intervention is necessary with a Periodontist.
Most infections will need medication. You need to see a doctor to confirm and prescribe it if it is needed.
