Yes. Usually, you will be prescribed aspirin plus an additional blood thinner (Plavix or Brillinta) for a period of time.
Yes you must take an aspirin and another medication to keep the blood thin (usually clopidogrel or ticagrelor) for at least 1 year without interruption. If this needs to be interrupted for any reason you need to discuss with your cardiologist before stopping.
